2010 Rendezvous

2010 Rendezvous, Applegate Valley, Southern Oregon

The 2010 vintage began well and was on track to be a great vintage up to the 3rd week of June when it diverged to turn into a relatively cool year.  With rain threatening, harvest began on 10/5 and finished 10/31 at a cool 2500 growing degree days for the year.  Even in this cool year the Merlot came in at surprising 24 Brix while the Cab Franc finished at 21.

Our winemaker decided this would be an excellent opportunity to show a wine with exactly the acids but more importantly the flavor components needed to produce a signature Right Bank Bordeaux of European style .

Tasting Note – Feb 17, 2018

An unusual dominant Cabernet Franc blend makes an unusually aromatic wine with a complex nose of spices and toffee.  The Merlot infuses the wine with its round mouthfeel and satiny tannins wrapped around classic flavors of black currant, red cherry and flint.  A lingering finish reminds you of why you love the wine.  As the label says, once you experience the guilty pleasure of this wine you may not be able to resist a repeat performance.  This refined and age-worthy wine offers lively acidity and a sturdy structure with a long lingering finish.
